DIY Valentine’s Day Cards
Valentine’s Day can be a great opportunity for showing your students how much they matter to you. Nothing says you matter as much as something hand-made. Using Laura Cochrane’s Love Bug Valentine idea inspired me to do just that! I simply went on the internet and found a mason jar clip art pattern that I could use in a word doc to adjust to my desired size, added the text I wanted, and printed off the needed number on natural cream linen card stock. Next, using rubber insects that I had on hand, I glued one each to the cut out cards. At first I used a hot glue gun, but the bugs kept falling off. I had success with Elmer’s white glue.
For the week before Valentine’s Day, I hung the cards across the front white board on natural twine using wooden clothes pins and presented them their cards at the party on Valentine’s Day. Needless to say, they were adorable and I enjoyed making them just as much as they enjoyed getting them!
These could be also be made to go along with a nature themed VBS or summer camp program. Maybe even a summer birthday party for children. I know I will make them again for sure!
