Bulletin boards are fun to make, but if you’re like me, you don’t always have a lot of time between teaching, grading and lesson planning to get something put up. For moments like those, I suggest a simple chalk+quote+paper design. Here’s one I put together during a 45 minute period while my students were at choir.

And now for the steps:

  1. Hang a piece of black paper
  2. Find a styled quote that you like (For ideas, check out my Inspirational Thoughts Pinterest board)
  3. Print the quote on an overhead transparency so you can project it onto the bulletin board
  4. Using colored chalk or soft pastels, fill in the letters just as they appear on the original image
  5. Spray the letters with a low-odor clear gloss finish. This keeps the students from smudging them.

With this simple method, you can share the quotes you love in a quick and artsy way.
