Free App to Inventory Books
Forever a fan of Pinterest , I found a real gem in pins a few days ago that I just have to share with you! Maybe you, like me, have wanted to have an inventory of all the personal books you have put into your classroom. As a side note, just the other day while I was at teacher’s convention, a colleague asked how she would be reimbursed for her things in the event of a fire at school. The answer: inventory them. Since I went through this process at the end of last school year, I know it’s a daunting task, but I think I found a great app to help with the books. It’s called booksapp2.
You simply aim your cellphone at the ISBN number on the back, and it instantly records the title, author, publisher, release date, description, length and dimensions, a photo and the subject categories the book fits into. Amazing and simple! You could have a middle school student do it for you.
The only two cons I’ve found are that (1) it doesn’t recognize all books and (2) it has advertising on the bottom. But oh well, the app is free, and from now I’m happy that if I’m in a bookstore and see something I like, I can instantly double check on my phone to make sure I don’t already own the title.
