Start Right At The Door
School will start for me in just a few weeks now, and I am busy getting the classroom and the curriculum ready. As always, I want to carry a theme throughout the year, giving a foundation for building everything else on. A theme or challenge can help tie things together for the students and makes the year more enjoyable as well. There is no better place to start your theme/challenge and teaching than right at the door. This year I thought of the theme, "Putting Your Best Foot Forward" when I started adding these shoes to the door, but then it evolved to "Walk Worthy,"
I liked this better because as a Christian teacher, I could pull in the spiritual aspect in my challenge. I didn't think of this on my own. I got the idea when our school planners arrived from God's Word in Time Scripture Planners.
I have used day planners for many years and from several different companies, but planners from God's Word in Time are the best! Planners are a great way to help students track their learning and manage their time. These planners also help students stay connected with the Word. Having the theme carry out to our daily planner will help keep the theme and challenge strong.
To take the theme further, I made these name tags for the desks.
On the first day of class, I plan to take photos of all the kids' shoes and add the photos to a bulletin board. Watch for more on that later!
